The Art of War: For All WarMongers From Iraq To Lebanon

Irresponsible parents breed criminals and terrorists.
I thank God I am not one of the lunatic fringe elements, because my father and mother did their homework on good parenting.

Fools rush to war and as fools lie so fools die.

I don't think President George Walker.Bush, Osama bin Laden and the brigands of Hamas, Hizbollah and other terrorists have read giving medicine after death to
Lebanon
and no Marine would have concluded 'It Looked Weird and Felt Wrong'.

Highly recommended reading FIASCO by Thomas Ricks.

Is Abubakar Atiku Innocent?

"I have no relationship with Mr. Jefferson, personal or private, other than the usual diplomatic courtesies extended to a high-ranking U.S. official who states that he is interested in promoting trade, investment and the transfer of technology to Nigeria," Abubakar said.
Washington Post

JEFFERSON, William Jennings

In my previous commentaries, I have already addressed this scandalous case of Rep. William J. Jefferson (D-La.) who has been accused of bribery and corruption by the FBI and his statements have implicated Vice President Atiku Abubakar of Nigeria. But Atiku has denied that he had any criminal deals with the Mr. Jefferson. And I want to find out if Atiku is innocent or not.

The BBC Is Watching You

I read Daniel Pearl's We're watching you on the opinions of bloggers on the BBC and I have to share my thoughts on the BBC and the rest of them.

Newsnight is the most popular BBC Programme online.

Why?

The presenters rock.

They are seasoned journalists and when it comes to down-to-earth news coverage, the BBC leads the pack. The CNN and Sky News don't have much news until something catastrophic happens and they bore us with the repetitions of the so called breaking news until another catastrophe occurs.

Well done BBC.

But, I think BBC's Daniel Pearl should change his name, because it is spooky to be sharing the same name with the beheaded Wall Street Journal reporter Daniel Pearl.

Talking of the Catastrophic News Network (CNN), I wonder why they make their coverage of happenings in Africa look like charity. As if they are doing us a big favour.

Yesterday, the CNN higlighted Nollywood, the Nigerian answer to Hollywood and from a professional angle, it was a half-hearted report. It was like the CNN was not willing to give us our 15 minutes of fame. So, the CNN reduced it to 3 minutes. And I suspect that it was not gratis.

Israel Versus Hezbollah: Delusional Obsessions

Delusional Obsessions

Serious war is on the horizon in Israel because she's been an appeaser. She pulled out of Gaza but had to go back in to wage war. She pulled out of Lebanon and has now had to go in and again wage war. I agree with Michael Medved's comments that, "We need a victory process and not a peace process."

The Israeli IDF has not just invaded Lebanon as Lebanon is a surrogate of Syria and Iran. Damascus is at risk always (Isaiah 17). The current tension could die out as the ultra dove Prime Minister Ehud Olmert is spineless and ineffective in such crucial times; however, he will likely continue to receive pressure from the Israeli people for the soldiers captured or killed. Nonetheless, I will take as a positive and hopeful statement from Olmert when he said, "There are people who are trying to test our resolve. They will fail and they will pay a heavy price for their actions." May his actions, then, speak louder than words.

Hezbollah in Syria is a ruthless outfit that means "party of god." They had ties to the planned NY subway bomb plot a few weeks ago that was prevented. Along with Hamas, they operate in America for our demise as well as Israel's.

What lapse of logic can explain the stubborn, utterly unshakable and nearly universal insistence that Israel must pursue a "peace process" with its terrorist adversaries? Recent events in the Middle East demonstrate that the continued Western emphasis on "road maps" and "peace processes" represents a delusional obsession, not a policy preference. This is a lesson the world needs to learn, not just Israel. An agreement with such people (indisputably characterized as impotent, dishonest, or both) remains a meaningless gesture.

And yet because today we live in an upside down world, the world seems to be caught by surprise at the events in Israel in the last many weeks with a war status in Gaza and now Lebanon. What seems so obvious to some seems to not even be on the radar screen for many of the world's leaders which is why one has to wonder if the scenario being played out is simply one foretold by the ancient Hebrew prophets. It is part of the scenario that must play out, "and then the end shall come."

Yet we know that He who keeps Israel neither slumbers nor sleeps (Psalms 121); and nor should we cease in our prayers for wisdom for presidents, prime ministers, kings, and more who have to deal with the ugly realities of the 21st Century and the Islamofascists seeking to retake the world and bring it back to the 7th Century.

Awaiting His return,
Jan Markell.

Shola Oshunkeye Is The 2006 CNN African Journalist of the Year

I congratulate Nigerian journalist, Shola Oshunkeye who is the winner of the 2006 CNN MultiChoice African Journalist of the Year Award.

His entry titled 'Niger's Graveyard of the Living; which he wrote while working for Tell Magazine, was picked ahead of 18 other finalists. The story was on the 2005 draught in Niger Republic. An obviously overwhelmed Oshunkeye dedicated the award to his wife and to his former employer,Tell Magazine. The same story had earlier won the MKO Abiola prize for Print Journalist, at the individual category stage.

Nigerian Times Statement on the War in the Middle East:
Hezbollah is a terrorist organization and has no legal status. Therefore the UN cannot engage in any dialogue with Hezbollah. And the UN should hold Lebanon, Syria and Iran responsible for the lawlessness of Hezbollah in the Middle East.

Hezbollah has worsened the state of emergency in Lebanon and Palestine.

Is Transcorp Not A Fraud In Disguise?

The board of directors of the Transnational Corporation of Nigeria Plc (Transcorp)are strange bed fellows of some sorts. And the set-up of this Transcorp is more than meets the eye of the Nigerian public. Because, the brains behind Transcorp are also the portfolio managers of the kleptocrats in power since the reign of the evil genius, the retired General IBB to the current retired General OBJ who is the Generalissimo of the ruling party, the so called Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) of Nigeria.

Transcorp has already failed to make the mandatory initial payment of $500 million for Nigerian Telecommunications Limited (NITEL).The credibility and integrity of the masterminders of Transcorp will likely collapse like a pack of cards. It was only last week that Transcorp was announced as the preferred bidder for NITEL the national telecommunications carrier after it offered to pay $750 million for the 75 percent equity. But now that it has failed to even make the initial payment of $500 million, should the Bureau of Public Enterprises (BPE) continue with the transaction or dismiss Transcorp?

Is Transcorp not a fraud in disguise?

Why was Mr. Tajudeen Fola Adeola sacked from Transcorp?

Now Bush Takes The Mickey Out Of The Mouse

Well, it was President George W.Bush who approved the law in June to increase the maximum Federal Communications Commission indecency fine to $325,000 as reported by the Washington Post. And that controversial law has sent American broadcasters and entertainers under cover.
So, you cannot swear on air or curse "4k U" on stage anymore. Dare the devil and you get fined $325,000. And do not say Orikinla did not warn you.

If only GWB read my blog, thousands of American lives would have been saved in Iraq and Afghanistan and the costly tactical blunders made in the war on terror would have been prevented from the first gunshot. But now, GWB has admitted that there is need for Rethinking Embattled Tactics in Terror War. Is this not funny?

Talking of the Politics Of the Pipelines, please tell Dubya that it would be cheaper to import natural gas from Nigeria than from Russia. And our own natural gas doesn't choke.

Here is my update on the case of American 419 in high places.

America: Who Can Predict The Future?

As Americans celebrate their Independence Day, also called the Fourth of July, I wonder what is going on in the hearts of Americans.

Fourth of July is more than a federal holiday to mark the adoption of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776, from Great Britain. July 4, 1776 was the beginning of the American dream. But is the America of today the dream of the founding fathers? Or the American dream has turned into the American nightmare.
Because, Americans are now living in fear of tomorrow.

Americans were safer during the Cold War era. Even the war in Vietnam did not threaten the future of America as the war on terror is doing now.

Who can predict the future of America?
