IN GOD WE TRUST? Or In Dollar We Trust?

It was the good Rev. M. R. Watkinson, Minister of the Gospel from Ridleyville, Pennsylvania, who first made a formal appeal for the recognition of the Almighty God in American Currency in a letter he wrote to the Secretary of the Treasury, Salmon P. Chase on November 13, 1861.

Dear Sir,
You are about to submit your annual report to the Congress respecting the affairs of the national finances.
One fact touching our currency has hitherto been seriously overlooked. I mean the recognition of the Almighty God in some form on our coins.
IN GOD WE TRUST

This historical giant leap of faith has made America the wealthiest nation on earth since they made that covenant with the Almighty God. And nothing can break this divine covenant, except the covenant keeping God Himself. And He doesn't change. So, that means America will continue to flourish and prosper as long as God pleases.

But in my country Nigeria, our case is different. We have not made any covenant with God in our currency and no wonder the value of our Naira depends on the Almighty Dollar.

Back to America.
But, how many Americans trust in God or in their dollar?
Without any fear or favour, I can state here that majority of Americans trust their dollar more than God. Millions of them don't even trust God at all. Because, anybody who will not bow to the authority, excellency and supremacy of God does not believe or have any trust in the Almighty God.

Where your heart is, that is where your God is.

As long as "IN GOD WE TRUST" remains on the American currency, I will continue to support the United States of America, no matter what happens. Because, "In God I Trust".
