Re: "Niger Delta: The Sore of a Nation"

A rapacious ruling elite has reduced the people of the Niger Delta, and indeed 70 percent of the Nigerian population to a life of penury, surviving on less than one dollar a day, in spite of the wealth from oil. Consequently, the Niger Delta remains one of the most underdeveloped, poverty-ridden, and crisis-prone regions of Nigeria.
~~ The Editorial of The Guardian of Nigeria on "Niger Delta: The Sore of a Nation" on Monday August 28, 2006.

If only President Olusegun Obasanjo would be reasonable enough to read this honest to God editorial on the Niger Delta crisis. We don’t have to write a long essay or dissertation to comprehend the genesis of the Niger Delta crisis. Because, in this very concise and precise analysis of the Niger Delta Crisis, The Guardian has said it all.
