Statement from James A. Williams, General President of the International Union of Painters and Allied Trades, on Iowa Caucus Results

WASHINGTON, Jan. 4 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The following is a statement from James A. Williams, General President of the International Union of Painters and Allied Trades, on the results of the Iowa Caucus:

"Although Senator Clinton did not prevail in Iowa, it's clear by the votes she received that her pledge to fight for working families resonated loudly. The men and women of the IUPAT stand by the senator and vow to make certain working families everywhere know that a vote for Senator Clinton is a vote for a better future. We look forward to being a part of the winning difference in the upcoming contests throughout the country. Senator Clinton, we're already working for you in New Hampshire. See you there."

The International Union of Painters and Allied Trades (IUPAT) endorsed Senator Clinton in December after holding an unprecedented nationwide vote among its members and retirees.

The union represents over 160,000 working and retired men and women of the finishing trades in the United States (http://www.iupat.org/). The IUPAT is renowned for its political activism within the organized labor movement and has been dubbed the 'Army of Black and Gold' because of its members' signature black and gold t-shirts and large numbers at rallies.
